Disease Management

There is currently no cure for PCD, but daily care and treatment can help manage symptoms and slow lung damage.

Management usually includes:

  • Daily airway clearance techniques (e.g., chest physiotherapy)
  • Prompt treatment of infections and inflammation in the sinuses and lungs
  • Regular hospital care for serious infections
  • More intensive treatments (such as IV or inhaled antibiotics, oxygen therapy) during flare-ups

PCD Clinical Center Network

To improve care and research, the PCD Foundation created a PCD Clinical Center Network. These centers offer advanced diagnostic tools and treatment, and provide a pathway to clinical trials that aim to find better therapies—and eventually, a cure.
