PCD Foundation Announcement

The Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Foundation (PCDF) Announces
Board of Directors Open Application

To facilitate continued growth of the PCD Foundation (PCDF) we will be reviewing applications for Board of Directors (BOD) positions for our upcoming board election.  Applications are due by March 15, 2008.  Elections will be held April 1, 2008.

PCDF Board of Directors*
The PCDF Board of Directors is a volunteer working board tasked with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization including finances, corporate management, fund development and oversight of our primary program areas: Research, Education and Advocacy.  Because this is a working board, there may at times be a significant time commitment required from board members.

Eligibility:
Membership on the PCDF Board of Directors is open to any individual age 21 or over with a demonstrated commitment to advancing PCD Foundation initiatives.  Preference will be given to individuals whose skill sets match our current needs as outlined below.  PCD patients and/or caregivers are also encouraged to apply.

Requirements:

  1. Support the mission, goals and priorities of the PCDF as listed on the  application
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to primary ciliary dyskinesia
     (PCD) or willingness to learn
  3. Able/willing to participate in conference calls at least once or twice each month and to dedicate additional time to PCDF activities if required
  4. Willing to take on a leadership role in PCDF committees
  5. Dedicated to fundraising for the PCDF
  6. Able to travel (rarely) as a representative of the PCDF to scientific or educational meetings.

Current Needs:
The PCDF is a patient-driven organization.  It is our goal to balance this critical patient focus with equally critical professional skills and expertise.  Achieving this balance is an ongoing process. This is an open application process and everyone is encouraged to apply. We are especially soliciting applications from individuals with the following skills:

  1. Strategic fund development/professional fundraising
  2. Non-profit governance
  3. Medical/scientific expertise-both clinical and research
  4. Writing/technical writing

Process:
Applications are available online at PCDF Board Application. Completed applications must be received by March 15, 2008 and will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee of the PCDF Board of Directors.  Applications can be submitted one of three ways:

1.)   Electronically via email: info@pcdfoundation.org

2.)   Via fax: 623-215-6670

3.)   Via regular mail: PCD Foundation Nominating Committee
                              29252 N. 22nd Lane
                              Phoenix, Arizona 85085

Applicants will be notified by the Nominating Committee whether they have been selected to stand for election by the full PCDF BOD on April 1, 2008.  Individuals elected to the BOD will be notified in person and election results will be made available on the PCDF website and by email to the group.
